PORTALES, N.M. -- The owner of a tire shop was caught on tape brokering deals to traffic cocaine into Eastern New Mexico, Portales Police said.
Victor Olguin, the owner of Victor's Tire Shop, was arrested and charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy. Agents from the Region 5 Drug Task obtained multiple recordings of Oguin brokering deals to traffic pounds of cocaine into the region, police said.
More than $51,000 worth of cocaine, according to police, was seized at the business.
Police said agents observed a suspect vehicle transporting cocaine to the business. The driver, identified as Jose Pena, hand delivered more than a pound of cocaine to an undercover Task Force Agent while under surveillance.
Jose Ornelas was also arrested at the scene for concealing identity. He was found with 4.2 ounces of cocaine and was charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy.
Olguin and Pina's bonds are each set at $100,000 cash. Ornela's bond was set at $51,000.
The Region 5 Drug Task Force is made up on officers from the Clovis and Portales Police Departments, the Curry and Roosevelt County Sheriff's Offices and the New Mexico State Police.
The investigation was conducted over a two-month period and ended last week.
