AMARILLO, TEXAS -- If you've ever felt a little skittish about getting involved in a little wagering at work around Super Bowl time... don't worry, it's legal.
Pronews 7 talked to Corporal Jerry Neufeld with the Amarillo Police Department this morning and he says they see games like this happening at local businesses and offices all the time. You actually can get involved in these games at work legally if you want, just as long as the "house" isn't making a cut.
"They are perfectly legal providing that the person who I guess is operating that pool is not keeping a portion of money for themselves and not paying it back out," said Corporal Neufeld. "People buy squares or however they do that as long as what we call the house doesn't take any profit from it, they're perfectly legal."
Corporal Neufeld also said APD really hasn't had an issue with any office pools being played illegally in Amarillo.
