BOYS RANCH, TEXAS -- A 22-feet tall marker was set in the ground Thursday at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch.
This arrow is only one of 27 that have already been placed in some of the top 52 counties in the Texas Panhandle, all marking locations where historic Comanche leader, Quanah Parker traveled. The Texas Historical Commission Texas Plains Trail Region began coordinating the effort to help develop and mark the Quanah Parker Trail.
"Anybody that has done research in our counties that have proof that Quanah Parker came through," said Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Campus Public Relations Director, Danyel Parkhurst. "Well, what they've done is we've gotten a marker this arrow as a marker to mark that he's come through. We have Julian Bivins museum here and we actually have Quanah Parker's moccasins in our museum.">
The group also placed another arrow marker in Dalhart this afternoon as part of the Quanah Parker Trail.
