AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A project that's been several years in the making... is well, still in progress.
The old Potter County Historic Courthouse Renovation Project has been underway since Nov. of 2009.
The project was due to be completed this past December, but when the construction company missed that deadline they had to ask the commissioners court for an extension to Jan. 21.
We're now past that deadline and with every passing day the renovation isn't complete, the construction company actually owes Potter County $1,200 per day.
"This money goes to help defray the cost of our operation cost where we've had people move out in the county, otherwise if they would've reached substantial completion on that date they wouldn't have owed us any money and we would've been able to move back in the building but since we're not able to move into it they owe us money now," according to Potter County Director of Facilities, Mike Head.
The next projected completion date is set for next Tuesday, Feb. 7.
