AMARILLO, TEXAS -- An unattended candle is being blamed for causing a house fire Monday morning.

The fire, at a home in the 1400 block of Pryor, caused approximately $70,000 in damage, fire officials said.

Amarillo Fire Department said the fire happened around 8:00 a.m. Monday. Upon arrivals, firefighters said they found heavy smoke coming from all the windows and vents.

The first crews were able to enter the home and control the fire quickly. Fortunately, no injuries were reported and no one was at home at the time of the fire.

The Amarillo Fire Marshal's Office was able to determine the fire was accidental and was started by an unattended candle burning in the living area.
