Amarillo man arrested on multiple fraud and forgery charges

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- An Amarillo man was booked into the Potter County Detention Center after a report came in on him trying to pass a counterfeit check.

42-year-old Michael Dewayne Williams was arrested Sunday afternoon after police received a report of him trying to pass a counterfeit check at Walgreens in the 2600 block of South Georgia.

The officer tried to verify the check when a warrants check was ran on Williams. It was disscovered that he was wanted on five warrants from five different jurisdictions:

1. Forgery of a financial instrument-Fairfield, Texas
2. Fraud by check-Smith County, Texas
3. Bond Forfeiture/Failure to appear- Anderson County Texas
4. Fraud by computer-Canon City, Colorado
5. Forgery-St. Francois County Missouri

Investigation continues on the counterfeit check case. No charges have been filed.
