AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A 71-year-old man was beaten and robbed at a popular Amarillo supermarket parking lot early Wednesday morning and police are now searching for the suspects.
The robbery happened at about 6:15 Wednesday morning near the south entrance of the United MarketStreet in the 2500 block of South Georgia, police said.
It happened after police said a suspect vehicle was closely following the 71-year-old. The suspects, according to what the victim told police, were pulling in front of him and then back behind his vehicle on southbound Georgia Street.

Taken from the victim was his wallet, vehicle keys and garage door opened.
The suspects then fled the area driving eastbound on Southwest 26th Avenue. The vehicle they were driving appeared to be a tan or gold SUV smaller in size, police said.
As for the victim, he was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released. He suffered injuries to his hands, face and head.
