AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Authorities are investigating the cause of death of an Amarillo woman who collapsed in the process of being released from jail.

The Randall County Sheriff's Office said 46-year-old Tara Leann Miller collapsed Tuesday morning while she was in the process of being released. She was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 10:13 a.m, officials said.

Miller, according to the Randall County Sheriff's Office, was arrested Monday evening at about 5:40 p.m on a charge of Pedestrian in the Roadway. Police said she had been in the Randall County Jail nine times in the last ten months. All of the previous charges, except the last charge, were alcohol related.

Officials said the cause of death appears to be alcohol related.

This case remains under investigation.
