GUYMON, OKLA. -- Commissioners in Texas County have ordered a ban on all outdoor burning.

Texas County Commissioners approved the ban Monday morning at their regular meeting. The commission resolved "that it is unlawful for any person to set fire to any forest, grass, range, crop or other wild lands or to build a camp fire or bonfire, or to burn trash or other material that may cause a forest, grass, range, crop or other wild lands fire."

Dry conditions and extreme wind are to blame for the increased fire danger, meteorologists said.
