AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Many oil rig workers attended a Patterson UTI Drilling hiring event at Workforce Solutions on Tuesday.

The company is looking to hire hundreds of people for positions in the northeast Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles.

"As you know the oil field industry is kicking off and they're in desperate need of workers," said Marin Rivas the operations manager for Workforce Solutions.

Tomorrow there will be another hiring event for people who are new to the oil industry. It will be from 10am until 2pm.

"If the right individual, that is physically able to handle that kind of work is interested they'll provide some basic training and put them into entry level positions so they can learn the occupation," said Rivas.

They will also provide in-class and on-the-job training.
