AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Although October is officially Breast Cancer Awareness Month, that didn't stop local Breast Cancer Awareness supporters from getting together today to "think pink".
It was for the annual "In The Pink" luncheon at the Amarillo Civic Center. Supporters gathered for lunch, to honor local survivors and hear the inspiring story from special speaker, Linda Armstrong Kelly, mother of seven time Tour De France Champion and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong. Organizers say events like the luncheon are important to remind everyone to support Breast Cancer Awareness all year long.
"At Susan G. Komen we recognize that breast health awareness is important all year round and not just in September and October during the Race for the Cure," said Susan G. Komen for the Cure Executive Director, Lisa Hoff Davis. "We just want them to remember that individuals who might be going through cancer treatment right now, they can be empowered by seeing the survivors that are represented today."
Thursday's luncheon also included educational information to keep us all aware of the fight against breast cancer.
