AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Just when you get settled in with your year-old iPad 2, something new debuted Wednesday.

The iPad 3 is about to come out. Apple says it's sharper and faster, and will be able to handle voice dictation.

But how do we even being keeping with today's technology? Pronews 7 explains, it's all about figuring out what you need.

It's a rat race, keeping up with the latest and greatest technology as it evolves daily.

"today we are launching the new iPad and it's is amazing," said Apple CEO Tim Cook.

So how do you keep with it?

For many, buy back programs work. They give you the chance to sell back your out-of-date technology and get the latest.

"If you're wanting to get rid of your old technology we'll actually take it and we'll give you cash or credit for it and we like to refurbish those materials and re-sell them," said Andrew Brandt, Cat-man-du Systems Administrator.

Or narrow down your scope of needs. Ask yourself, will you be using the iPad, laptop, or notebook for entertainment or business?

"For somebody at home who's looking for a tablet device, it's not so much important that you're keeping up with the rat race as if is your looking for the solution that's best for you," said Brandt.

School districts across Region 16 also face that problem. How do they stay up-to-date with technology, but do it on a budget, because it can get very expensive.

"Any equipment you buy technology wise is not going to last more than a few years, three to four years. And so you have to be updating and upgrading and buying new all the time," said Tammy Swartz, Region 16 Technology Coordinator.

Luckily, schools can apply for grants that help pay for those costs.

But while it's a headache staying up-to-date, it's also exciting to watch our world evolve along with the technology.

If you're one of the many who want the new iPad 3, you'll have to wait a few weeks.

It's available March 26th.
