OLDHAM COUNTY, TEXAS -- Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers seized more than $330,000 in drugs from two traffic stops off Interstate 40.
The first happened on March 22 seven miles west of Vega. According to DPS, a trooper stopped a 2011 Chevrolet Impala for speeding.
Consent to search the vehicle was denied and a Randall County K-9 unit arrived to conduct a free air sniff. The free air sniff yielded a positive alert to the vehicle and a search was conducted.
The search revealed four bundles of cocaine inside the rear passenger door. The cocaine, according to DPS, totaled 2,890 grams valued at $187,611.
DPS said the drugs were being transported from Los Angeles to Chicago.
The driver, Daniel O. Pulver, 43 of West Jerome, Ind., was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
The second drug seizure happened March 24 on I-40 about nine miles east of Vega. According to DPS, a 2004 Ford F-150 was stopped for traveling in left lane not passing.
During the sotp, DPS said consent to search the vehicle was granted. The search yielded 47 bundles of marijuana totaling $146,853. Authorities said the drugs were being transported from Sacramento to Houston.
