A reinvestment zone and tax abatement for two wind turbines in Potter County was discussed by county commissioners Monday morning.
"The reinvestment zone is for the purpose of being able to create a tax rebate for the wind farm based on the economic growth and development and the dollars that would be coming into our area," said County Commissioner Joe Kirkwood.
The county has begun an application process for wind farms to locate here and qualify for that assistance.
The application must be filed before the commissioners next meeting.
"We want to give them a reinvestment zone the size of a footprint of their project," said Kirkwood. "Any future wind farms can come in and also request a reinvestment zone."
The commissioners will have a public meeting in two weeks to make a decision.
