AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Good things comes to those who wait -- or so they say.

But if you were waiting for some magic lottery numbers friday night-you weren't alone, just one of millions.

The Mega Millions Lottery Jackpot jumped up to $640 million Friday morning -- that's the largest jackpot prize in lottery history!

We know, you're more likely to die of cancer, a car accident, a dog attack or even a fireworks accident than actually winning the lottery, but convenience store clerks that didn't stop plenty of hopefuls from dishing out the dough for their chance at winning the big ones.

"It's nonstop," said J-N-B Quicki Shop Clerk, Jeremy James Paulhaedoy. "People that don't buy tickets are always buying tickets, people that normally buy tickets are doubling up and buying more tickets."

Even those who've never purchased tickets before in their lives were coming in to buy tickets on Friday, including a few members of the Pronews 7 news team.

"I have five dollars. Five dollars is my chance at 640 million bucks," Pronews 7's Emily Griffin said. "What will this get me?"

"It'll get you five chances in the tickets," said Paulhaedoy.

"We'll go with that," Griffin laughed. "Everybody's got to hope, right?"

Hope: an emotion Paulhaedoy said he comes across with each lottery ticket buyer he sees. With every passing drawing without a big winner, that jackpot number will keep on climbing. But something that never changes, Paulhaedoy said, is what people would do with the money if they won it.

"Leave," he laughed. "Go on vacation more than likely, build stuff, just whatever they want to do that they couldn't do before."

The drawing for the winning numbers takes place at 10:00 p.m. (CST) Friday night.
