AMARILLO, TEXAS -- For the third time in three days, shots were fired into the same neighborhood in North Amarillo.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Police were called to a home in the 900 block of North Columbine on three separate instances.
The first happened on Sunday morning when the homeowner said he heard loud noises just before 6:00 a.m. Upon further inspection, the homeowner found a bullet hole through his front window and into a couch, police said. He also found a dent, possibly from a bullet, on the front door of the home.
Police said he found spent 9mm cartridge casing from the street in front of the home. Additionally, police said the homeowner later found a shot also struck a tire on his pickup. Three people were inside the residence at the time of the shooting, police said.
The second call was early Monday morning at 12:30. Police said two more shots had struck the front window of the home. One of the bullets stopped in a couch and a second bullet was lodged in a wall across the window, police said. Officers recovered a 9mm shell casing from the street once again.
Later Monday evening, officers once again responded to a different home to a report of shots fired. Police said the resident reported a number of shots had struck his home. Officers found about 15 bullet holes. Most of those were in the area of the home's west facing picture window.
Police said the bullets struck several areas of the glass and frame. The bullets also struck walls and a TV set. No cartridge casings were found in the street this time, police added.
At the time of the last shooting, two adults and four children under the age of 12 were in the home. No injuries were reported.
According to a witness, a gray or silver Nissan of Toyota car with a loud exhaust was seen traveling northbound on Columbine immediately after the incident. The car, the witness said, was driving without headlights and at a high rate of speed.
Police said they are attempting to determine if the last incident was related to the two previous shootings.
Firing shots into an occupied home can result in felony charges of deadly conduct, police said.
