RANDALL COUNTY, TEXAS -- A hay bale fire, possibly caused by a lightning strike, continues to burn in Randall County.
The fire, according to the Randall County Sheriff's Office, is estimated at causing more than $100,000 in damage,
Fire officials remain on the scene and will let the fire burn itself off, the Sheriff's Office said. Concerns about Thursday's high wind forecasts are prompting officials to make preparations to prevent the fire from spreading.
Officials said the fire involved approximately 1,000 bales of hay Wednesday night at about 8:00 at 22901 West Farmers. The location is in the far western portion of Randall County, south of Bushland and west of Bushland road.
About 300 bales of hay were removed before also becoming involved in the fire, officials said.
