HOUSTON (AP) - Two Californians have been indicted over the 2010 death of a suspected illegal immigrant whose body was found in a ditch in the Texas Panhandle.
Prosecutors in Houston say a detention hearing has been set for Tuesday for Demi Mishel Muniz and Luis Aceituno, both of Hawthorne, Calif. Muniz and Aceituno were arrested March 21 in Los Angeles.
Both were indicted Wednesday on a charge of conspiring to transport and harbor illegal immigrants.
Investigators say some suspected illegal immigrants were being hauled from Houston to Los Angeles in August 2010 when a diabetic man got sick. His body was later found in a ditch near Vega, about 35 miles west of Amarillo.
Further details on the victim weren't immediately available.
