Electric car races will be battling it out at the B&W Electric Battery Car Race today.
According to Pantex, more than 15 teams comprised of middle school students in the Panhandle, will race, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. The race will put the students' creations at competition.
The race tests speed and reliability and is part of the National Science Bowl.
"The car race is always a favorite event for us at Pantex," said B&W Pantex General manager John Woolery. "It's a fun and exciting way for us to encourage a new generation of inventors and engineers."
Each race will have four cars competing down a 20-meter track. There is also a competition for car design, craftsmanship, creativity and the most appealing design.
Races are at the Amarillo Area Center for Advanced Learning at 1100 North Forest beginning at 9 in the morning and breaking for lunch from 11:15 to 11:45.
