The big one that didn't get away probably came from Texas!
The editors of Bassmasters Magazine have come up with a list of the top bass lakes in the country and to no one surprise, one Texas lake makes it in the top ten, and 6 others make the top 100.
The Texas lakes on the list with their rankings are:
No. 1-Falcon
No. 6-Amistad
No. 15-Toledo Bend (shared with Louisiana)
No. 19-Sam Rayburn
No. 26-Fork
No. 39-Choke Canyon
No. 64-Conroe
No. 88-O.H. Ivie
With eight on the list, Texas has the most of any single state. Bordering states fared well thought, with Arkansas making the list with 3, as did Louisiana and Oklahoma and two from New Mexico.
The list was compiled from research provided by state fisheries agencies, along with nominations from B.A.S.S. Federation Nation tournament organizers and a panel of professional anglers and fishing writers.
The final list was developed by a panel that considered the current fishability of each lake, its history, big fish catches, overall quantity potential and the aesthetics of the surrounding area.
Bassmaster editors say they plan to make the list an annual event.
