Summer is coming, but not everybody has air conditioning to keep them cool.
So once again, Pronews 7 has partnered with 2-1-1 Texas for our annual fan drive.
We do the drive in the Panhandle Spirit, because some people don't even have the means to buy a fan to battle the summer heat.
In fact, the 2-1-1 Texas Call Center says there've been requests for fans already, and they don't have any to give out.
"At risk individuals in the Amarillo and Canyon area are really in need, because as the summer months are approaching it's getting really hot, many of them do not have a working air conditioner in their home so what this will enable them to do is be able to work through the summers and be able to be comfortable in their homes and prevent them from any hazardous heat conditions," said Beth Elmore, 2-1-1 Texas.
So we are asking you to bring a new or gently used fan to our downtown studio at One Broadcast Center during regular business hours to help your neighbors stay cool this summer.
