WASHINGTON (AP) - A forensic scientist says cotton balls and a syringe needle allegedly saved by former Roger Clemens strength coach Brian McNamee tested positive for Clemens' DNA. Today's testimony was a key moment in the trial as the government tries to prove the ex-pitcher used performance-enhancing drugs. Clemens is accused of lying to Congress.

HOUSTON (AP) - Several lawmakers say they will promote a jury diversity bill in the Texas Legislature next year. They're unhappy with an all-white jury's acquittal of a former Houston police officer in the alleged beating of a teenage burglary suspect who is black. They want a review of the number of single-race juries that have decided trials around the state.

HOUSTON (AP) - Police and the Harris County district attorney are investigating a fatal shooting that involved officers working undercover. The officers say they shot and killed a man last night after he attacked them with a box cutter. One officer was stabbed.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - The federal government will monitor three counties in the Houston area during Tuesday's primary. Minority groups complained of intimidation during the 2010 election when a tea party group called the King Street Patriots sent hundreds of observers to polling places. The group says its members were guarding against voter fraud.
