OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Gov. Mary Fallin has signed into law a $6.8 billion budget bill to fund Oklahoma state government for the fiscal year that begins July 1.
The so-called "general appropriations bill" that was the result of negotiations between Fallin's office and leaders in the House and Senate was one of 17 measures Fallin signed on Tuesday.
While the budget for most state agencies were flat and received no increase in state appropriations, the bill did include targeted increases for a handful of state agencies, notably transportation, health care and child services. Overall, the bill represented an increase of more than 3 percent over last year's spending.
The bill narrowly passed the House in the final week of session after initially failing on its first vote.
