AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Women are invited to the Walmart off Interstate 27 and Georgia Wednesday evening to see if they qualify for a free mamogram.
The screenings are being done by the Amarillo Breast Center of Excellence, the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's HealthAccess to Breast Care for West Texas (ABC4WT) and the Amarillo Area Breast Health Coalition (AABHC).
The event is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A screening will be done in order to see if qualifications are met for a free mammogram. The free mammograms will be scheduled for a later date.
According to the Amarillo Breast Center of Excellence, more than 150 women have qualified for free screenings through Walmart events in recent months. Thanks to those screenings, three cancers were found that might have gone undiagnosed.
A $1.67 million grant from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas given to the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health is making the free screenings possible.
