BORGER, TEXAS -- A 41-year-old Borger man was sentenced to a total of 38 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for two charges dealing with a sexual assault of a child case.
Shannon Doyle Davis, 41, received 28 years in prison for the charge of Sexual Assault of a Child, 84th District Attorney Mark Snider announced on Wednesday. The charge was enhanced to a first degree felony by a prior conviction, Snider said.
In 1996, authorities said he was convicted of Indecency with a Child.
Davis was also sentenced to 10 years in prison for the third degree felony charge of Prohibited Sexual Contact.
Snider said a plea agreement made it to where Davis waives his right to have his case tried before a jury and appeal them.
The victim, along with family members, was present and read a statement describing the crime's impact, Snider said.
