AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A 28-year-old man was arrested for robbing an EZ Money store Friday morning, police said.

Travon Lavar Carter was arrested after police located him running from the store.

At about 9:30 a.m., police said a man who was described as wearing a black hoodie, black pants, a blue and black bandana covering his face and covering a black backpack, entered the EZ Money at 2600 West 6th and robbed the clerk.

Police said the man was armed with a black handgun and demanded money.

The clerk, according to police, told the man it would take a couple of minutes to get the money. The man waited as the clerk pressed a silent "hold up" alarm, police said.

Money was handed over to the man and he left, police said. At the same time, officers were arriving and saw the man running from the front of the business.

After chasing the man, police were able to capture Carter. The weapon along with the money was recovered, police said.

Carter was booked into the Potter County Correction Center on a charge of Aggravated Robbery.
