Ochiltree County Attorney dies

The Ochiltree County Attorney is reported to have passed away while on vacation.

David T. Scott, Ochiltree County Attorney passed away in Santa Fe, NM. on Monday, July 2.

Unconfirmed sources have said he suffered a heart attack while on vacation at Angel Fire and was airlifted to Santa Fe.

County officials have closed the County Attorney office and will wait until after the funeral to decide on a County Attorney Pro Tem.

Scott ran for the County Attorney office in 2008 on the Republican ticket. He lost his reelection bid this year to Barret Dye.

Scott's term would have been officially ended December 31, 2012.

The long time resident of Perryton has been active in the community as a city counsel member and chamber of commerce.

Scott previously served at Special Prosecutor in Hutchinson County, Texas and District Attorney Pro Tem and Special Prosecutor in Gray County, Texas.
