AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Police are investigating a crash where a Cadillac struck a runaway horse.

At about 12:20 on Monday morning, police said they responded to a wreck in the 100 block of Northwest 24th Avenue. Officers said a 2003 Cadillac CTS, driven by 27-year-old Jeremiah Shuntae Gipson, had struck a horse that had run into the road.

The horse was owned by 53-year-old Debbie Lee McCray. Police said the horse was being kept tied to a tree in a field south of the crash.

The horse had apparently freed itself and McCray was trying to catch it when it ran onto the road, police said.

Gipson along with two others, including a 3-year-old boy, were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
