HOUSTON (AP) - For the first time in months, gasoline prices have risen and are up 7 cents across the state.

AAA Texas on Thursday reports the average price of regular unleaded gasoline at the pump jumped to $3.23 per gallon.

The association notes that amount is still 30 cents less than motorists were paying at the same time last year.

Their survey found that the national average cost for gasoline also increased, up 4 cents in the past week to $3.38 per gallon.

Amarillo has the most expensive gasoline statewide at $3.33 per gallon. AAA Texas found that Corpus Christi had the cheapest gasoline at $3.15 per gallon.

The association says increased demand for gasoline during the July Fourth and Memorial Day holidays helped boost prices at the pump.
