SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The court-martial begins today for an Air Force sergeant facing the most serious charges in the Lackland Air Force Base sex scandal. Staff Sergeant Luis Walker is among 12 instructors at the San Antonio base who are under investigation in the widening case. Walker is charged with 28 counts, including rape, sexual assault and aggravated sexual contact.
DETROIT (AP) - The tires and rims have been stolen from a Texas pastor's vehicle while he attended a church revival in Detroit. Dallas Pastor Dwayne Houston, who grew up in Detroit, was alerted about the theft about a half-hour into yesterday's event. New Foundation Christian Center Minister Norman Black says those responsible for the theft "need prayer."
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - State legislators will meet today to learn more about the Texas Veterans Commission's Claims Representation and Counseling program. The Veterans Affairs and Military Installations Committee wants to know If veterans are getting the benefits they deserve. Senators will also hear testimony on the status of mental health services for veterans.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Texas lawmakers are expected to hear testimony on the redesign of the state's foster care system. In 2010, the Department of Child Protective Services began revamping the way the state contracts with children's organizations. The House Human Services Committee will listen to testimony today on how that redesign is going.
