State Senator Kel Seliger
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- As he does every year, State Senator Kel Seliger holds dozens of town hall meetings with his constituents. He says it's a great way to gauge voters’ concerns and get him ready for the next legislative session.
"I find out what people are thinking in relation to the state government, the job we do--you have to address individual policies with statutes that apply to the entire state of Texas," said Seliger.
As a former city leader, he believes governmental control should stay at the local level and state government needs to get out of the way.
"And can we address any policies that affect the entire state and individual concerns."
And above all, answering to the people he represents is what he takes with him, and believes they are the boss when it comes to his stand on the issues.
"It's important for me, like it is for anybody else employed by somebody to report to their bosses and that's what the voters are," Seliger said. They employ me and give me the great privilege of going to Austin and I need to report back to them and take their views and make that a part of my agenda."
