(AP) -- HOUSTON (AP) - Houston police have shot and killed a man who allegedly fired into his estranged wife's office, then tried to enter the building. Internal affairs officers are reviewing yesterday afternoon's shooting. Police say the officer who fatally shot 33-year-old Monta Cordell Fizer has been with the force since 1984. J.M. Macphail shot the husband before the suspect could enter the woman's building.
TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department has granted Miller County permission to designate a bridge in honor of two soldiers killed in Afghanistan. Officials hope to designate the North State Line Avenue bridge across Interstate 30 as the Kyle Brandon Stout/Zainah Creamer Memorial Bridge. A sign has already been placed on the Texas side of the bridge.
DALLAS (AP) - Retired hockey star Mike Modano and actress Willa Ford have decided to end their five-year marriage. A spokesman for the former Dallas Stars team captain said today the couple was divorcing but didn't have further details. The 42-year-old Modano and 31-year-old Ford married in 2007 in Athens, Texas.
NEW YORK (AP) - Citigroup is trying something new to keep struggling homeowners out of foreclosure: turn them into renters. CitiMortgage is painting its new program as a way to help homeowners stuck in houses they can't afford. The program will help about 500 homeowners Texas and other Southern and Western states become renters in homes they used to own instead of being evicted.
