AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A Grand Jury indicted a former private educator on charges of an improper relationship between an educator and a student.

Roberto De La Garza, 28, had sexual intercourse with an 18-year-old female student at Central Baptist Christian Academy while he was employed there. The complaint said De La Garza began the relationship about Feb. 14 until late June.

De La Garza told police investigators he had sex with the student.

According to the indictment De La Garza was arrested and charged with the second-degree felony on July 5, he was to be held on a bond of $10,000. He is currently free on bond.

De La Garza could face two to 20 years in prison and face a fine of $10,000.

De La Garza had been an employee of the school for two years and was recently fired for unrelated reason. School officials had reported the allegation to the police when they had learned about the relationship.
