Borger man dies in head-on collision others injuries

A head-on collision has killed a Borger man on Highway 136 in Potter County on Saturday afternoon.

Levy David Cox, 36, was driving northbound on Texas Highway 136 in a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup towing a utility trailer. Near mile marker 94 the vehicle he was driving crossed into the southbound lanes for unknown reasons.

His vehicle struck a 2011 Dodge Nitro head on, which was driven by Jackie Don Stapleton, 38. Cox was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his pickup.

Cox was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace, Thomas Jones.

The four passengers of the Nitro were wearing their seat belts. Lance Tyler Stapleton, 15, a passenger of the Nitro was transported to the Northwest Texas Hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

Other passengers of the Nitro were Christoper Zonhon-Wade Stapleton, 18, of Borger, Missy Anne Stapleton, 38, of Borger, and Jackie Don Stapleton, 40 of Borger.

The accident is still under investigation.
