A motorcycle struck the rear right side of a vehicle at the intersection of 35th Avenue and Washington Street during the noon lunch hour on Monday.

The 2001 Harley Davidson was northbound driven by James McDonald, 54, when it struck the rear end of a Toyota Corolla sedan, driven by Mary Bitela, WF, 45.

The McDonald was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Traffic north from the overpass of I-27 to 35th and Washington had been re-routed around the accident scene.

McDonald was not wearing a helmet. Speed is a possible factor in this crash.

The accident is under investigation by Amarillo Police Traffic officers.
