DURANT, Okla. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a man was found shot to death at his Bryan County home. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says authorities were called to a home in the southern part of Bryan County last night. Once there, authorities discovered 58-year-old Steve Weger dead from a gunshot wound.
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Firefighters are battling a grass fire in Norman. Fire Chief James Fullingim says the blaze began around noon today in a wooded area in the northern part of the city. He says about 80 acres have been consumed. In eastern Oklahoma, grass fires burned at least one mobile home in Mayes County yesterday.
OKEMAH, Okla. (AP) - A man accused of killing two young girls in 2008 has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the July 2011 death of his girlfriend. Kevin Sweat entered the plea today in Okemah. In May, a judge ordered Sweat to stand trial for the slaying of 23-year-old Ashley Taylor. Investigators allege fragmented human bones found on the property of Sweat's father were consistent with Taylor but not an exact match.
ENID, Okla. (AP) - A judge has set a September 4th hearing on the local newspaper's request to unseal court records from a dismissed felony perjury charge filed against an Enid attorney. Grady County District Judge Richard Van Dyck also set a September 6th hearing on attorney Eric Edwards' request to expunge the records in the case.
