CANYON, TX -- After a lot of anticipation, the 2012 Fall Semester is right around the corner. Freshman students geared up for a potentially life changing school year.

In order to subdue some freshman concerns, WT’s peer leaders are doing their best to prepare incoming students.

"They've gone through their academic orientation which is new student orientation." said Peer Leader, Daniel Zewde, "And then after this past weekend we went through buff branding which was the social orientation so to speak. Every student that registered for it got to; we went out to see the canyon. We got to stay the night and we had plenty of activities planned for them,”

For some, going from high school to college may be a big transition. West Texas A&M set up several Freshman Activities to help students along the way.

"I love the WT campus, they're so friendly the staff is very inviting they want to help you." said WT Freshman, Alyssa Hickenbottom. "I went to buff branding this weekend and we just had a blast. We went hiking and learning all the traditions of WT. It's a small family atmosphere,”

WT has taken on several new accommodations and they have expected one of the largest freshman classes to date.

"There are approximately fourteen to fifteen hundred incoming freshman which, it continues to grow every single year. It's a bigger class than it was last year and it's the biggest freshman class that WT has ever seen,” Zewde said.

With many changes underway WT is expecting an all-around fulfilling school year and the final day to register will be Thursday.
