AMARILLO, TEXAS -- It’s that time of year for roping and riding, beginning at 10 a.m. is the 68th annual Boys Ranch Rodeo and AdventureFEST.

This Saturday and Sunday the students and staff at Boys Ranch are welcoming the community to their biggest event of the year.

“Well we have our 68th annual Boys Ranch Rodeo, where we have almost 100 young people participating in all different kinds of events, riding horses, riding bulls, riding little sheep, riding stick horses and just having a good time,” said President and CEO of Cal Farley’s Dan Adams.

While enjoying the event is easy, the young people involved have worked very hard in their rodeo preparations. Adams said, “It's pretty amazing because these kids, many of them haven't grown up doing this, but they've just in their boys ranch /girls ranch experience have learned the skills.”

Many members of the community and local business have donated time and money to make sure the adventureFEST and rodeo are enjoyable for all, and also that it benefits Boys Ranch.

“I think it's important to people that they see young people thrive, there is nobody that I know, that doesn't care of the quality of life that a kid has,” said Adams. “I am thankful for people in this community who take time to go out there.”

This year is the Boys Ranch reunion and the participants are hoping to attract nearly 8,000 people. “This isn't something that is exclusively ours, it’s, I think a treasure of this community,” said Adams.

You can purchase tickets at the gate for 10 dollars. AdventureFEST will begin at 10 a.m on Saturday and Sunday and following will be the barbeque lunch, with the rodeo grand entry at 2:30.
