OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Health officials say Oklahoma has seen the highest number of West Nile virus cases ever recorded in a single year in the state.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health says 118 cases have been recorded so far this year - the highest ever. The agency also says two more people have died from the virus, bringing the total number of deaths to seven for 2012.

State health officials warn that favorable conditions continue for the spread of West Nile. Residents are urged to wear insect repellent and to drain any standing water from their yards.

The state says adults over 40 are the most at risk for contracting West Nile.
