PORTALES, N.M. -- Traveling on Second Street in Portales may be a little more difficult in the near future.

That's because of a Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Project on eastbound Second Street between Avenue G and Avenue E, the New Mexico Department of Transportation said.

NMDOT said the north, or outside lanes, will be extended to Avenue E, including the intersections at Avenue E and Avenue F.

Accessing Avenue E and F in between First and Second Street will still be possible off of First Street, NMDOT said.

Residents are asked to observe posted speed limit signs and to be cautious of equipment and personnel.

Updates on the project can be found on Constructors, Inc., Facebook page.
