HARTLEY COUNTY, TEXAS -- A 28-year-old man was arrested for money laundering south of Dalhart on Tuesday, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
DPS said a trooper stopped a 2003 Subaru Impreza about eight miles south of Dalhart on US 87 for a traffic violation.
Troopers said the odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle led troopers to finding two bundles of cash, DPS said.
The bundles totaled $5,200, DPS said. They were found hidden in a shoe that was inside a duffle bag in the trunk.
DPS said the money was coming from Austin and headed to Denver.
The driver, 28-year-old Bradley Neal of Big Lake, Texas, was arrested for money laundering.
