Police: 19 marijuana trees found in Sunray

SUNRAY, TEXAS -- 19 trees growing marijuana were found behind a mobile home in Sunray on Thursday morning.

The trees were found after a first search warrant in the 700 block of Avenue L.

Jesus Manuel Chavez, 33, was booked into the Moore County Jail on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Police said about eight grams of what is suspected of being cocaine was found during the search.

A second search warrant in the 700 block of Avenue J led police to discover 19 marijuana trees growing inside a greenhouse behind a mobile home. During the search, police said they found numerous marijuana seeds for planting, numerous items of drug paraphernalia and about eight ounces of marijuana.

The home, according to police, was unoccupied.

The search warrants were done by members of the Sunray Police Department, Moore County Sheriff's Office, Dumas Police Criminal Investigations Division and Dumas Police SWAT.
