CANYON, TEXAS -- The City of Canyon has rescinded Stage 2 of its Drought Contingency Plan.

That means the watering restrictions are no longer in effect.

The City said the recent rains, cooler weather and the associated reduction in customer water usage allowed the City to rescind Stage 2.

Stage 2 was implemented on July 3, 2012.

Stage 1 of the plan will stay in effect, however. That stage is used to heighten public awareness and encouragement of water conservation measures.

T"he City of Canyon would like to express its appreciation to the residents of Canyon for their cooperation and support during the implementation of Stage 2 of the Plan, and would encourage all to continue to conserve water whenever possible," the City said in a statement.
