AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A 25-year-old man was arrested on burglary and evading arrest charges after a church in North Amarillo was broken into early Monday morning.

Neggye Sabit Omer, 25, was booked into the Potter County Detention Center and Evading Arrest.

Police were called to Eastridge Baptist Church in the 1300 block of Evergreen on an intrusion alarm at about 4:22 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers said two people were seen walking along the sidewalk. When the people saw the officer, they took off running, police said.

Omer was caught but the other suspect was not located. Police said the suspects had apparently broken into the church and ransacked several interior rooms before getting scared off.

Police said several items such as electronic equipment, speakers, speaker wire and an equalizer were stolen. The suspects dropped all the items outside as they were fleeing, police said.

It appears all the stolen property was returned to the church, police said.
