AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The third annual 'Up in the Air for Family Care," took flight just before sunset Tuesday evening. Happy State Bank and The Blacksheep Squadron teamed up with several organizations to raise awareness for the Panhandle Family Care Foundation.

The Family Care Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides medical care to people in need within the community.

Family Care Foundation's chairman of the board, David Jones said, "The family foundation had just crossed a mile stone of giving a million dollars in charity care to the Amarillo community. We do GAP medical care and so we kind of wanted to mark that achievement so it just all kind of came together."

Joining the festivities, the only paraplegic pilot in the world, Michael Glen returned to share his inspiring story and fly the Amarillo skies.

"Flying for me is a real special thing I've been around balloons my whole life. My first ride was three weeks old, and my dad will be here flying his balloon so it's a really cool experience to be able to do this. one of the goals I set for myself was to become a pilot after my accident and achieving that goal is one of the neatest things I've done and I've got to meet some of the greatest people," said Glen.

Early Friday evening at 6:45 pm, Family Care invites folks to come out for a free balloon glow at the Don Harrington Discovery Center.

On Saturday there will be a Sunrise Mass Ascension at the High Plains Children's Home starting at 7am. Later that evening there will be a Balloon Bash fundraising dinner starting at 6:30 pm, also at the Discovery Center.
