AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Motorists should expect delays on Southwest 34th Avenue near Hayden Street because of a utility project, the City of Amarillo said.

A private utility contractor, according to the City, will be performing construction on a water main located in the westbound lanes of SW 34th Avenue where it intersects with Hayden Street.

Several lanes of traffic on 34th just west of South Washington Street will be closed because of the project.

Traffic traveling west of Southwest 34th Avenue and west of South Washington Street will be merged into one lane of traffic because the utility work will require access to a water main located underneath the road, the City said.

The City said will typically take place from 7 a.m., and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
