AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A 43-year-old Amarillo man was robbed Monday evening at gunpoint while pulling into a convenience store, police said.

The victim told police he was pulling into a convenience store in the 3300 block of Amarillo Boulevard at about 9:45 p.m., Monday when he saw a white male standing at the edge of the parking lot waving at him.

Police said the victim stopped to see the man wanted. The man asked the victim, according to police, if he could ask him a question. That's when police said the man opened the driver's side door and tried to sit down inside the car with the victim.

The victim told the man to get out of the vehicle and the man then pulled out a black pistol. The man reached over and attempted to take the victim's keys out of the ignition, police said.

Police said the victim started struggling with the suspect and driving toward the front of the store to attract attention. The suspect, police said, grabbed the man's wallet and cell phone before running north on Woodland.

The victim was not injured and no arrests have been made, police said.
