WHEELER COUNTY, TEXAS -- A 31-year-old Oklahoma man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

The DPS said it responded to the crash, located 15 miles east of Wheeler on State Highway 152, at about 8:30 a.m., Wednesday.

A 2005 Ford Focus, driven by 30-year-old John J. Taylor of Oklahoma City, was traveling eastbound when it veered into the westbound land and struck the front left of a 1994 semi truck.

The semi truck was driven by 47-year-old Juan G. Lopez of Memphis, Texas.

Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene by a Justice of the Peace. He was wearing a seat belt, authorities said.

Lopez was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo with internal injuries. His condition was not immediately known and DPS said he was also wearing a seat belt.
