CREEK COUNTY, OKLA. -- An Amarillo couple was killed Sunday afternoon when their vehicle was struck head-on by another vehicle west of Tulsa, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Donald L. Clift, 54, and Jana T. Clift, 52, both of Amarillo, died at the scene of the crash on State Highway 33 in Creek County, Okla.

At about 2:15 p.m., OHP said a 2001 Chevrolet pickup, driven by 36-year-old Carmen D. Spicer of Mannford, Okla., was traveling westbound on SH 133 when, for an unknown reason, crossed the center line into oncoming traffic.

The pickup collided head-on with a 2010 Buick SUV driven by Donald Clift with passenger Jana Clift, OHP said.

OHP said Spicer, along with the couple, were each pinned for about 45 minutes before being extricated by using the Jaws of life.

The Clift couple and Spicer all died at the scene from massive injuries sustained in the crash, police said.

Seat belts, according to authorities, were in use by the Clift couple but were not in use by Spicer.
