AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Randall County Commissioners met Tuesday morning to discuss the 2013 fiscal year.

The elected officials deliberated over how taxpayers' dollars should be allocated. Amongst the many topics up for debate, they discussed the requested renewal contract for Randall County's Public Defenders.

In 2012, public defenders received a budget of $72,313 and looked to receive the same amount of funding in the upcoming year.

The commissioners approved the request for the renewal contract providing public defenders with the same number of finances.

Randall County District Attorney, James Farren stresses the importance of public defenders in keeping the streets of Randall County safe.
